Introducing a safe, reliable, and cost-effective fecal incontinence treatment

Fecal (or urinary) incontinence affects nearly 3,000,000 people in the U.S. However, due to the somewhat embarrassing or sensitive nature of incontinence, many people suffer in private and don’t always feel comfortable telling their doctors about leakage. Yet, factors such as an increasingly aging population, consumer education, and growing acceptance of incontinence issues are driving people to seek help.

People who experience bowel incontinence symptoms may be experiencing complications due to:

  • Childbirth, especially in women who have had episiotomies
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Parkinson’s
  • Immobility issues
  • Cancer of the bowel
  • Changes due to aging
  • Some neurological disorders
  • Muscle damage
  • Menopause
  • Rectal prolapse, and other causes

At The Outpatient Center of Boynton Beach, we are pleased to offer patients a safe, reliable, and cost-effective surgical treatment through our Incontinence Program for fecal incontinence. This program offers modern, technologically advanced surgical solutions for bowel issues.

Surgical solutions include:

InterStim® device – This two-part system is implanted into the body and works by stimulating the nerves associated with bowel function, and is a safe, proven, and effective treatment to restore bowel functions to more normal patterns. With this device, patients can expect a trial period to ensure the treatment is effective. If the InterStim® device is successful, permanent placement is done as an outpatient procedure.
